Abstract


Abstract - Implementation of eHealth technologies often go wrong as this part of the development of eHealth technology is either underestimated, addressed too late or not performed, while the success of the eHealth technology is not only dependent on its well-researched technical feats, but also on how well it fits in its intended care processes. Therefore, as part of the CeHRes Roadmap used in various eHealth projects by the Center of eHealth and Disease Management at the University of Twente, business modeling plays a crucial role in the development of eHealth technologies. Both the design as implementation of eHealth technologies require a value-driven approach by involving all relevant stakeholders in the process to improve the eventual uptake and impact of the eHealth technology. By creating a dialogue on the expected value for all the relevant stakeholders, a consensus or a ‘HOT-fit’ can be found for developing the most (cost-)effective technology for the entire stakeholder network and determining the rationale required to incorporate the technology in its care setting. Through this dialogue and stakeholder involvement, attention for the implementation can already start early in the development process of the eHealth technology. Critical Success Factors can be synthesized from the value expectations of the stakeholders and can subsequently be transformed into a business model and business case that guides the operationalization, focusing on the technology-specific factors that address its required organizational infrastructure, and guaranteeing sustainability and (cost-)effectiveness.
