Abstract
Background
Most critical bottleneck in clinical trials in oncology is patient recruitment. Currently more than 40% of all clinical trials in oncology failed because of too less patient recruitment. One way to overcome that problem is to improve communication for trial recruitment and to include patients directly into that communication as well. Including into the communication stream and giving patients the opportunity to get informed by them self also increase their compliance. In addition to that, modern solution for medical professionals also improves recruitment process.
Methods/Results
For that particular reason Evimed in cooperation with the German Society for Senology developed a bundle of eHealth/mHealth solutions. Based a cloud-based system different applications are available.
www.brustkrebs-studien.de is made as a patient portal whereas studien.senopedia.info is made for medical professionals. Professionals can also use an iPhone/Android APP to search personalized for clinical trials.
Conclusions
Beyond that the system is directly linked to several internet based services with which all communicational needs from physicians, nursing staff or other parties can be supported.
