Abstract

Background: Energy-dense high fat dietary intakes and low levels of physical activity among young people are considered to be significant contributing factors in the development of excessive weight gain issues. E-Health has shown its potential to provide effective alternative ways in care delivery, disease prevention and management in relation to various health problems. The web-based technology has increasingly been used for delivering programs that help them adopt healthy behaviours. Objective: The aim of this research is to collect information to design content, structure and features for a youth-friendly website promoting healthy eating and physical activity behaviours. Methods: This study employs a qualitative research design including both focus group and interview techniques to design the website. A range age between 19 to 25 years old is the potential participants taking part in the study. Conclusion: Outcomes of the present study will reveal significant features and structures to inform the development of the web-based program for young people. Most importantly, it involves the target audience in the present formative research to design a behaviour change program that is applicable, appealing and attend to needs and interests of young people.
